![]() Giardia Giardia is a genus of anaerobic flagellated protozoan parasites of the phylum Sarcomastigophora that colonise and reproduce in the small intestines of several vertebrates, causing giardiasis. Individuals become infected through ingesting or coming into contact with contaminated food, soil, or water. The symptoms of Giardia, which may begin to appear 2 days after infection, include violent diarrhea , excess gas, stomach or abdominal cramps, upset stomach, and nausea. Resulting dehydration and nutritional loss may need immediate treatment. Cryptosporidium Cryptosporidium is a genus of apicomplexan protozoans that can cause gastrointestinal illness with diarrhea in humans. Treatment is symptomatic, with fluid rehydration, electrolyte correction and management of any pain. The parasite is transmitted by environmentally hardy cysts (oocysts) that, once ingested, exist in the small intestine and result in an infection of intestinal epithelial tissue. Poliovirus 1 Poliovirus, the causative agent of poliomyelitis, is a human enterovirus and member of the family of Picornaviridae. Poliovirus is composed of an RNA genome and a protein capsid. Paralytic disease occurs when the virus enters the central nervous system (CNS) and replicates in motor neurons within the spinal cord , brain stem, or motor cortex, resulting in the selective destruction of motor neurons leading to temporary or permanent paralysis. Rotavirus Rotavirus is one of several viruses known to cause a self-limited gastroenteritis. Fluid stool losses may be dramatic, and death from dehydration is not uncommon, particularly in developing countries. Symptoms of rotavirus infection usually begin within 2 days of exposure and include the following:
Klebsiella Terrigena (bacteria) Klebsiella Terrigena is a rarely encountered gram-negative bacterium and mainly reported as aquatic and soil organism. Can cause: endocarditis, diarrhea, and fever. E.Coli E. coli (Escherichia coli) is the name of a germ, or bacterium, that lives in the digestive tracts of humans and animals. There are many types of E. coli , and most of them are harmless. But some can cause bloody diarrhea. Some strains of E. coli bacteria (such as a strain called O157:H7) may also cause severe anemia or kidney failure, which can lead to death. Adya Clarity minerals prove once again their power in removing intestinal parasites, viruses, and bacteria from water. This is a great relief for those who got food poisoning, and also for travelers wishing to ensure any water they drink is pure and clean of various health damaging microorganisms. * All tests where performed by an EPA approved lab, following an NSF protocol. |
